Last night I recall a conversation I'd with a couple of mates. An issue that is so natural and obvious, but ironically gets more critical as we pondered over. For us it is not that hard to distinguish between good and bad, or right and wrong, but the real challenge comes when you need to justify the point with a pure, impartial heart. Well we all know that the… mind and heart never go together. In contemporary world they scarcely agree.
Like in our every get-together, one of the folks starts pouring his judgmental supremacy. Defending his superficial statements under the graces of legendary tales. He unfolds that in the great Mahabharata, even the faithful, duty oriented & victorious Pandavas can't make it to the "Pit of Truth" except Judisthira and the Truth himself in the shape of a dog. The reference also has that despite their scheming and irrational natures Karna and Dushasan from the Kauravas managed to reach the supreme point.
Dushasan loves his brother; he is ignorant of the evil designs and his only concern is to protect his brother, thus he is qualified. On the other hand Arjun fights for the good and fulfilled his duty, but he nurture undue pride over his artillery strength and this led him to get disqualified for the final journey.
This proves that things which are so obvious to our mind may not be the same if considered from the heart. The famous epic, exemplify this very argument when it explains the safe exit for those in the wrong side of the world, while the perpetual heroes are miles behind.
